Park County deputies evacuating homes near Fairplay due to wildland fire

PARK COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) --

UPDATE: The Kootchie Kootchie Fire is approximately .34 acre in size and has not grown according to Park County's website. There is a line around the fire. 

The evacuation order has changed to a pre-evacuation status. You can call 719-836-4200 for updates related to evacuation orders

PREVIOUS COVERAGE: Residents in Fairplay are being evacuated due to a wildland fire reported Saturday afternoon.

The Park County Sheriff's Office confirmed that deputies were evacuating several homes near Kootchie Kootchie Road.

A dispatcher said firefighters were making "really good" progress in extinguishing the flames, but they could not provide an estimate for how big the wildland fire was.
