White House sends reinforcements to aid Colorado senator
GREENWOOD VILLAGE, Colo. (AP) -- Republican Colorado Sen. Cory Gardner is getting some help from the White House as his reelection campaign kicks into gear.
Ivanka Trump and the secretary of the Interior on Thursday celebrated Gardner's legislation expanding funding for public lands at Rocky Mountain National Park.
On Friday, Ivanka Trump joined Gardner at a roundtable on child care in suburban Denver and repeatedly praised the senator. Gardner is considered the most vulnerable Republican senator this year because Colorado has shifted leftward during Trump's administration.
The visits come as the GOP escalates its defense of Gardner against Democrat and former Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper.
