WEATHER ALERT FRIDAY

A disturbance moving into the high country tonight yielding mountain snow will result in strong westerly winds for lower elevation areas on Friday

FRIDAY: Wind gusts between 20-30mph are likely with increasing wind speeds during the early afternoon. Maximum afternoon wind gusts in Colorado Springs will reach near 60mph between 1pm-4pm. With winds that strong minor damage to siding and roofs will be possible, along with tree damage and power outages. Light high profile vehicles traveling along north/south-oriented roads will face a blow over risk due to the wind direction being out of the west. The strong winds will gradually diminish after 7pm and turn calm overnight.

EXTENDED: Winds taper off late Friday night and a return to calm conditions by Saturday afternoon with seasonal temps in the 30's and 40's under partly sunny skies.
