Several shots fired in southeast Colorado Springs, two men taken into custody

Police responded to a shots fired call in southeast Colorado Springs early Wednesday morning.

When officers arrived in the 2000 block of Whitewood Drive, the reporting party said they heard four to six shots fired and that the people who fired the shots were sitting in a vehicle next to their home.

Officers found Enrique Gorostieta, 28, and Albaro Gamboa, 33, inside the vehicle and told them to exit the vehicle several times, but both men refused to comply.

The Traffic Enforcement Unit and K9 unit arrived on the scene to help officers with getting the men out. Gorostieta and Gamboa were then taken into custody.

Several shell casings were located near the vehicle and two weapons were recovered from inside the vehicle.

At this time no damage or additional victims were located at the scene.
