Albertsons on Pueblo’s south side to close
The Albertsons on the south side of Pueblo is expected to shut down in April.
This location off S. Prairie Avenue is the third Safeway or Albertsons to face closure since the merger of the two chains in 2015, according to our partners at The Pueblo Chieftain reported.
“This was a tough decision made after careful deliberation. For more than a year, we evaluated this store extensively and looked at options to improve its performance. Ultimately, our business analysis indicated that we needed to close the store,” Albertsons/Safeway said in the statement.
Around 60 people work at the location, and the company told The Chieftain that it would try to find jobs for them at the other Safeway and Albertsons locations in the area.
