Victims frustrated following RV break-ins at Camping World in Fountain

A group of RV owners are frustrated following multiple break-ins at a Fountain maintenance shop.

They said it happened because no security measures were in place at Camping World.

Victims Emily Simmons and Tim McKesson’s RV camper was parked in the Camping World parking lot for warranty service.

They dropped it off six weeks ago to get the service done. They said when they left their camper at the shop, they requested it be put behind the shop’s locked gates, but it was never moved.

Wednesday night Simmons and McKesson’s trailer was broken into along with several others. They said they are out thousands of dollars based on what was stolen.

“They also didn’t disclose to us that they would not cover our vehicle if it got broken into on their lot,” McKesson said. “If they would have, we would have pulled it off their lot knowing they didn’t have any security.”

“We can’t afford to replace all that out of our pockets, and we don’t want our insurance to go up,” Simmons said.

Beyond the TV’s and stereo’s taken, what’s also been lost is their trust.

“They don’t have a secure facility, I would never take my camper back there after this,” McKesson said.

KRDO NewsChannel 13 called Camping World. They did confirm that multiple break-ins did occur Wednesday night. When we asked about their security measures, they hung up.
