Some furloughed employees still awaiting callback

While thousands of furloughed employees returned to work Monday, some are still waiting for a callback.

Edward Espinosa works for Front Line Apparel. The company tailors clothes for the Air Force Academy cadets. When the government shut down, Espinosa was one of thousands sent home. He’s not one of the thousands going back.

“Maybe it’ll be our turn coming soon,” he said.

But Espinosa has since learned he won’t return to work until the shutdown ends. There’s no word on when that will be.

In the meantime, he’s doing mechanical work and side jobs for neighbors. He’s also looking for other jobs, “just in case,” he said.

While his future is uncertain, Espinosa said his faith is helping me through this.

“It’s going to be good,” he said. “We might be short on the bills, but God provides, always.”
