Fort Carson’s 4th Brigade getting new commander

One of Fort Carson’s four infantry brigades is getting a new commander.

Col. Brian L. Pearl will formally take command of the 4th Brigade Combat Team on Thursday. Pearl was previously a deputy for a Pentagon task force on improvised explosive devices.

He replaces Col. James J. Mingus, who is being assigned to U.S. Central Command.

Mingus has led the brigade since June 2010. The unit served a nine-month deployment in Afghanistan during his tenure.

The 4th Brigade is part of Fort Carson’s 4th Infantry Division.
