New campaign aims to bring more business to Downtown Colorado Springs

KRDO

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) - Businesses in Downtown Colorado Springs want to make every Saturday, "Small Business Saturday" throughout the month of November.

The retail holiday falls on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, but with many businesses struggling due to the coronavirus pandemic, now is the time to shop local.

Nearly 100 locally owned businesses in the city center are partaking in the weekly event. Many of which are offering "Saturday only specials."

The month-long push to shop local will end on November 28 with special giveaways.

The Discover Downtown Pass is continuing to offer deals through its free app for downtown shops, restaurants, salons and other businesses.

Dine Out Downtown will also continue into the winter months. Expanded patio seating will continue thanks to grants for patio heaters. The City is also selling co-branded Downtown/Switchbacks fleece blankets to keep customers warm while dining outside.

Expanded on-street dining in the downtown area will return in the spring of 2021.
