Lavelle Scottie becomes first in his family to graduate college
Colorado Springs, Colo. (KRDO) -- Air Force hoops captain Lavelle Scottie graduated from the Air Force Academy on Saturday.
The third-team all-conference selection turns the page to the next chapter of his incredible story.
No one in Scottie's immediate family had graduated from high school, let alone college.
Vice President Mike Pence singled out Scottie during the graduation ceremony.
He's the former captain and MVP of the Air Force basketball team. Today, he becomes the first in his family to graduate from college, and becomes an Air Force officer. Would please join me in congratulating cadet first class Lavelle Scottie. Well done Lavelle," the VP said to an applause.
