’50 For The Fallen’ hosts 50-mile trek in Hawaii to support child sex trafficking victims
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- A 50-mile trek in just 18 hours is nothing out of the ordinary for the "50 For The Fallen" group, and they're doing it again in less than a month.
On Dec. 6 and 7, the group will hike once again, this time in O‘ahu, to raise $50,000 for children who are victims of sex trafficking.
The organization Ho‘ōla Nā Pua, in Hawaii, works to prevent sex trafficking while also caring for children who have been exploited.
"50 For The Fallen" founder Chad Conley said that the long hikes allow for deep conversations between men and women who have served in the military and are serving.
"In this world today everything is busy. Everything is connected but everyone feels disconnected. So, being someone in the military I understand what it’s like to lose people during that disconnection," Conley said.
The mission of the organization is to help service men and women process their traumatic life experiences in the military by walking, talking, and always raising morning for a good cause.
