UPDATED: Crooks caught on camera stealing man’s life belongings
A Colorado Springs man says thieves took everything he owns when they stole his truck Sunday night, and he is offering a $10,000 reward to get it back.
Tim Morrissey recently moved to Colorado Springs from California to relocate his business and to be closer to family. He packed all of his belongings in a 27-foot long truck and left it parked outside of his business near I-25 and Garden of the Gods. Morrissey said he planned to start unloading the truck Monday once his new home was painted, but the truck was gone.
“I lost everything. It’s my entire life. It’s everything that I own. My beds, my towels, my toiletries, my shampoo, it’s all gone,” Morrissey said. “Every book, every photograph, every piece, article of furniture, it’s all 100 percent gone.”
Surveillance video captured the crooks on camera around 10:30 p.m. Sunday night. A person is seen approaching the truck and spends several minutes getting the passenger door to open before driving it away.
Morrissey said he never thought the truck would be stolen because the battery was dead. But the thieves took the time to change the battery before stealing it.
“I don’t have those funds to go replace everything. I can’t replace everything,” Morrissey said. “I’m screwed.”
The truck is a 2002 yellow GMC truck with Colorado license plates and faded logo on the side. If you have any information, call Colorado Springs police at 719-444-7000.
