Man expected to survive shooting near South Academy and Hancock Expressway
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- A man is recovering from his injuries after Colorado Springs Police (CSPD) say he was shot multiple times in southeast Colorado Springs.
CSPD says that just after 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, officers were called to a gas station near S. Academy Blvd. and S. Hancock Expy. Witnesses say a man said he had been shot multiple times and was seeking medical attention.
The victim was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive his injuries. Investigators say he had parked his vehicle in a cul-de-sac on the 2700 block of Dickens Dr. when two men walked up to the vehicle and opened fire. The suspects drove away in a dark-colored SUV and are still at-large at this time.
Officers say the victim backed his vehicle into another vehicle when attempting to drive away for help. His car was badly damaged when he arrived at the gas station.
CSPD says this appears to be an isolated incident, and that there is no known threat to the community. No other suspect information has been released.
