‘UPS boy’ gets special delivery from hundreds of miles away
The Colorado Springs “UPS boy” received a special delivery from hundreds of miles away.
KRDO NewsChannel 13 first shared the story of Carson Kight, dubbed “the UPS boy,” in December. Carson’s love for UPS and his favorite driver, Mr. Ernie, became an Internet sensation. UPS gave him his very own mini-truck to make deliveries around his neighborhood.
A woman in Shreveport, Louisiana, saw Carson’s story and said she felt a special connection. Paige Burton’s father worked for UPS for 30 years and recently passed away. Burton said she was unsure of what to do with her father’s UPS memorabilia, including toy trucks and planes, until she heard about Carson.
“I really think my dad would want to him to have these things,” Burton said. “If they stay here at my house they’re going to sit and collect dust. With Carson, they’re going to get played with.”
Burton packed the toys along with a note explaining the items and sent them to Carson.
Carson received the package just in time for his fifth birthday this week.
“I know that he’s going to enjoy playing with them and looking at them. And what a story he’ll be able to tell in the future and pay it forward,” said Karen Kight, Carson’s mom.
The package included a harmonica, which Burton said her father always played, even while driving. Burton said she hoped Carson would be reminded of his UPS “angel” when he played it.
