Buc-ee’s to break ground on its first Colorado location in Johnstown on June 7
JOHNSTOWN, Colo. (KRDO) -- Officials are going to break ground on Colorado's first Buc-ee's location Tuesday, June 7, 2022.
News that Colorado was getting a Buc-ee's first broke in early February. Buc-ee's is a travel center that boasts having the world's "cleanest" bathrooms, freshest food, and friendliest beaver. The travel center first began in Texas before eventually adding stores in a few, nearby states.
Buc-ee's Johnstown will be the first Buc-ee's location in Colorado. Officials say the 74,000 square feet location will offer travelers 116 fueling positions.
The new store will also have thousands of snack, meal, and drink options. That includes Texas barbeque, homemade fudge, kolaches, Beaver nuggets, jerky, and fresh pastries.
“We picked a great partner in the community of Johnstown for our first store in Colorado,” said Stan Beard of Buc-ee’s in a press release. “At the foothills of the beautiful Northern Front Range, this Buc-ee’s will introduce all sorts of bikers, hikers, skiers, and campers to the cleanest restrooms, friendliest staff, and freshest food they’ll ever find on a road trip.”
The new location is said to bring 175 new, permanent, full-time jobs to the area.
Johnstown Mayor Gary Lebsack and members of the Johnstown Town Council will join officials from Buc-ee's at Tuesday's groundbreaking at the southwest corner of I-25 and County Road 48.
Founded in 1982, there are currently 35 Buc-ee's stores across Texas with eight locations in other states. For more information, click here.
