Fort Carson soldier killed in motorcycle crash, driver facing DUI charges
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO)-- Saturday afternoon, Fort Carson confirmed to KRDO that a soldier was killed in a motorcycle accident in southeast Colorado Springs on April 28th, 2022.
The Mountain Post identifying that soldier as 22-year-old Specialist Adam Buck. Specialist Buck was originally from Wisconsin and arrived to Fort Carson in April of 2019.
Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Garvey, commander of the Soldier Recovery Unit, releasing the following statement:

they have the resources they need. Spc. Buck's presence in our formation will be greatly missed."
The crash happened on Marksheffel Road at the end of April. Specialist Buck was on a motorcycle when the driver of a Dodge Charger crossed over into Specialist Buck's lane, hitting him head on just after midnight.
Vincent Dewitt, the driver of the Charger, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. He now faces vehicular homicide and DUI charges.
Dewitt is currently at the El Paso County Jail on a $50,000 bond for this case. He also has another $5,000 bond from a 2017 case for felony vehicular eluding and possession of a weapon by a previous offender.
Saturday, Fort Carson released more details on Specialist Buck's time in the service. He joined the army in July of 2018 and deployed to Syria in 2020.
Specialist Buck was an unmanned aircraft systems operator in the Soldier Recovery Unit. Fort Carson listed his awards, including an Army Commendation Medal and two Army Achievement Medals.
Colorado Springs Police say the investigation into the crash is still ongoing.
