Accused killer Barry Morphew faces new charge for possession of a dangerous weapon
CHAFFEE COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- The man accused of murdering his wife faces an additional charge of possession of a dangerous weapon.
Barry Morphew, 53, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with his wife's disappearance on May 5. Suzanne Morphew was reported missing on Mother's Day in 2020.
On Tuesday, the District Attorney for the Eleventh Judicial District released additional charges Morphew faces.
The charges he currently face are:
- Murder in the first degree
- Tampering with a deceased human body
- Tampering with physical evidence
- Possession of a dangerous weapon
- Attempt to influence a public servant
The arrest affidavit for the murder charge that Morphew faces is still sealed, and opposing parties have until May 27th to submit documents in response.
On May 14, an affidavit filed revealed Morphew was also accused of using his missing wife's ballot in the 2020 presidential election to vote for Donald Trump.
