Denver mayor marches with protesters after Floyd’s death
DENVER (AP) - Hundreds of protesters have taken to the streets in downtown Denver for another round of demonstrations following the death of George Floyd.
The protesters lay on their stomachs with their hands behind their backs for nearly nine minutes Wednesday outside the Colorado Capitol. Floyd died after a white Minneapolis police officer pressed his knee into the handcuffed black man's neck for several minutes even after he stopped moving and pleading for air.
Mayor Michael Hancock joined the group and clapped as protesters chanted, “Black lives matter.” Hancock, who is black, thanked those who have been demonstrating peacefully and locked arms with protesters during a march through downtown.
