Wind and snow make for poor driving conditions in Monument and farther north
MONUMENT, Colo. (KRDO) - Wind and snow have hit our region again, with some areas faring better than others.
While conditions along most major thoroughfares in Colorado Springs were not too bad Thursday, road and weather conditions deteriorated with travel north of Briargate Parkway.
Wind gusts poured across roadways in the Monument area, reducing visibility for drivers.
KRDO 13's The Road Warrior passed a two-vehicle crash on southbound Interstate 25 at Monument Hill, shortly after 12:30 p.m. Thursday.
Despite snow and reduced visibility, traffic was moving steadily on I-25.
Blowing snow kept roads clear in some instances, while causing snowdrifts to form on others.
CDOT traffic sensors indicate drivers should expect a slower-than-usual drive for their commute back home, especially if they live north of Colorado Springs.
CDOT also reported strong winds south of Colorado Springs towards Pueblo on Thursday afternoon. Gust winds of up to 59 mph were expected in the area until the rest of the day, according to CDOT.
