I-25 is back open near Fountain after crash closes both directions for 11 hours
EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- A crash involving a double-decker car carrier and a pickup truck closed down both north- and south-bound lanes of I-25 near Fountain Monday night.
The double-decker car carrier appeared to be hauling multiple Teslas.
According to the Colorado Department of Transportation, I-25 was closed between Mesa Ridge Parkway and South Academy Boulevard for 11 hours while crews cleared the wreckage. The roadway has since reopened.
Southbound I-25 was closed; northbound traffic was being diverted at South Academy, and then back on the interstate.
Traffic was backed up for several miles in both directions.
According to the Fountain Fire Department, a total of six to seven vehicles were involved in the incident. Two people required extraction from their vehicle and one was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.
