WEATHER ALERT: Excessive Rain and Snow Tuesday through Wednesday
TONIGHT: A few passing showers and embedded rumbles of thunder possible overnight with mild temps in the 30's and 40's.
TUESDAY: Snow flurries as early as 6-9am begin around Teller county. Widespread rain is expected by Tuesday afternoon along and east of I-25 bringing much needed moisture to the Plain and Front Range. Rain changing over to snow is possible around part of Colorado Springs to Pueblo but timing is everything. Many areas along and west of the I-25 corridor have the *POTENTIAL* to switch over to heavy wet snow. At this point, greatest confidence for significant snow is along the Palmer Divide, Teller County and western Freemont County. These areas could very well pick up a foot of snow.
Colorado Springs is a close call, at this point it's best to target the middle ground (2-6"). This is a boom or bust type storm, with only a few miles being the difference between rain and significant snow. We are still several days out, stay tuned!
EXTENDED: Treacherous travel around higher terrain areas expected by Wednesday morning. Lingering snow and rain through the first part of Wednesday if expected before clouds and rain decrease after 4pm and skies gradually clear out late Wed night. Partly sunny skies and highs in the 40's to low 50's return Thursday.
