Weekend Forecast: Looking Wet and Cool for Memorial Day
After a nice and pleasant Friday for a good majority of Southern Colorado, we will kick off the weekend on a nice note. Saturday morning temperatures are expected to start in the 40s and 50s and quickly rise into the 70s and 80s across the region.
We do have the threat for afternoon storms and some of those could turn severe. The storm prediction center has southern Colorado under a slight risk of severe storms meaning that large hail and damaging winds will be a concern on Saturday.
Storms will begin to clear as night falls but it won't be completely clear. We'll wake up Sunday to partly cloudy conditions and then overcast conditions will set in for the afternoon as light to moderate rain will continue through much of the day on Sunday. The forecast holds true for Monday as well as a trough will continue to impact our area. Temperatures will be cool Sunday and Monday sitting about 5-15 degrees below average. Upwards of an inch or more of rain could fall Sunday to Monday alleviating drought concerns even more.
We finally begin to clear out for Tuesday and Wednesday but will still hold on to a chance for afternoon storms through Thursday. Temperatures will warm to near normal by midweek.
