Marty’s Sunday Morning Forecast – Cooler With More Rain Likely – 7/26/2020
Overview: Increased thunderstorms should help to cool the air over the next couple of days and possibly bring heavy rain to some areas at times. Starting Wednesday the air should dry some which will reduce the number of storms and allow the air to warm up again.
Today: Partly to mostly cloudy and cooler again with showers and thunderstorms developing again through the afternoon. Thunderstorms are possible area-wide Sunday afternoon and evening, but the focus for the most numerous thunderstorms should shift a bit farther south. Like Saturday, severe weather is unlikely, but stronger storms could produce frequent lightning, gusty wind and areas of heavy rain again, and should the stronger storms interact with our local burn scars it is possible that flash flooding could occur. Most areas will be cooler with high temperatures in the 70s and 80s along the I-25 corridor and possibly a few lower 90s for the far eastern plains; most of our local mountain communities and mountain valleys will warm into the 60s and 70s prior to thunderstorms developing.
Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms will greatly decrease in coverage this evening with most areas becoming partly to mostly cloudy, but isolated showers could continue well into the night again, especially over the plains. Low temperature will fall into the 50s and 60s for the plains with 40s and 50s over the mountains and mountain valleys.
Extended: The air looks to remain fairly cool on Monday with thunderstorms likely less numerous across the most areas, particularly the plains. Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms are still possible on Tuesday, but drier air should settle over the area during the latter half of the work-week decreasing the coverage of showers and thunderstorms and allowing for some warmer afternoons again.
