State warns of unemployment scam

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) - With 25,000 people filing for unemployment last week, the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment is warning people of a scam.

Scammers are targeting people through phone calls and emails saying they are either with the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment or the Colorado Division of Unemployment Insurance.

They then request personal information like your bank account numbers, social security number, account passwords and more.

The Colorado Department of Labor and Employment may contact you to ask for details about a former employer or other information you provided, but those requests will not ask you to verify personal information.
