Mandatory evacuations issued because of Cameron Peak Fire

LARIMER COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) — Fire officials ordered a mandatory evacuation for people near the Cameron Peak Fire on Saturday night, according to the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office.

The evacuation is for the area along Highway 14 from the Fish Hatchery east to Kelly Flats because of immediate and imminent danger. There is also a mandatory evacuation in effect for Pingree Park Rd. 

Fire officials told people to evacuate the area immediately and as quickly as possible. 

The fire has grown to 24,464 acres and is at 6% containment.

840 crew members are fighting the fire. It started August 8th, and investigators are still trying to determine the fire’s cause.

The National Interagency Fire Center said the cost of fighting the Cameron Peak Fire has surpassed $16 million.
