Smoky Sunday: Cameron Peak Fire affects air quality across the Front Range
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) — Smoke from the Cameron Peak Fire is affecting the Front Range. The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment issued an Action Day for Particulates until at least 4 p.m. on Monday.
Smoke from the fire is resulting in concentrations of fine particulate matter that are unhealthy for sensitive groups, according to CDPHE.
The air quality index lists the quality in Colorado Springs as moderate, while the air in Denver is listed as unhealthy for sensitive groups Sunday night.
The Cameron Peak Fire is 34,289 acres in size and 5% contained. Multiple evacuations have been issued for people who live and work near the fire area.
