PUEBLO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- UPDATE: The fire is 16 acres and 50% contained as of Wednesday morning.
Firefighters will continue to construct fire line Wednesday and watch for spot fires outside the perimeter of the main fire. Helicopter drops will also continue.
Pre-evacuation notices are in effect for Highway 165 from Highway 78 (12-Mile Road) to San Isabel and Highway 78 from San Carlos Trailhead to Highway 165.
PREVIOUS COVERAGE: A wildfire has started in a mountainous area northwest of Rye, and pre-evacuation orders have been given to a nearby campground.
The fire is being called the Willis Creek Fire, and it's burning about one and a half miles northeast of Lake Isabel.
By about 4 p.m. Tuesday, the fire had burned an estimated 30 acres, according to the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office. Lightning is suspected to be the cause of the fire.
Residents on 12-mile road between Highway 165 and San Carlos Trail, along with some nearby campgrounds, should prepare for a possible evacuation.
At least two helicopters and several air tankers have been called to help extinguish the fire. Sections of Highway 165 near Lake Isabel will be closed for brief periods while helicopters collect water from Lake Isabel.
