Man in hospital after driving off the road and into an embankment
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO)-- A person is in the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries after driving off the road and crashing into a nearby embankment.
On Tuesday, October 24, at around 10:20 p.m., officers with the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash at the Nevada Ave. bridge–that was over the Rock Island train tracks just south of Fillmore St.
At the scene, officers found a red Hyundai with a man inside. Officers reported because the man was witnessing a medical emergency at the time of the incident, he had driven off the road and crashed down the embankment onto the unused railroad tracks below.
The Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) was dispatched around 10:22 to the scene, and got there at 10:27 p.m., they were able to rescue the man and take him to a hospital for treatment.
