Letecia Stauch found guilty on all counts; Sentenced to life without parole

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The El Paso County woman accused of murdering her 11-year-old stepson Gannon Stauch was found guilty on all charges. Letecia Stauch faces two life sentences.

The jury reached a verdict in the murder trial of Stauch around 12:50 p.m. Monday. This came after the prosecution and defense gave their closing arguments and deliberations began Friday.

After a thirty minutes break Monday, the verdict was read. Stauch was found guilty on all counts.

The jury has found Stauch guilty on all counts.

  • Murder in the First Degree - Guilty
  • Murder in the First Degree of a Child Under 12 By a Person in a Position of Trust - Guilty
  • Tampering with a Deceased Human Body - Guilty
  • Tampering with Physical Evidence-Destroy - Guilty

After the verdict was read, it was announced Stauch would be sentenced. The judge asked for a brief 30-minute break ahead of sentencing.

The judge is expected to come back with sentencing at 3:25 p.m.

Stauch was sentenced to two life without parole sentences.

  • For Murder in the First Degree, she was sentenced to life without parole
  • For Murder in the First Degree of a Child Under 12 By a Person in a Position of Trust, she was sentenced to life without parole
  • For Tampering with a Deceased Human Body, she was sentenced to 12 years, three-year parole, consecutive to life
  • For Tampering with Physical Evidence-Destroy, she was sentenced to 18 months, consecutive to life.

Her two life sentences will merge.

The sentencing came after Gannon's family's emotional impact statements, including statements from his mother Landon Bullard and his father Al Stauch.

The 4th Judicial District Attorney's Office is set to hold a press conference around 4:45 p.m. Monday.

Gannon was murdered in early 2020. His body was found under a bridge in Florida.

During the five-week trial, Stauch's defense admitted that she killed Gannon but claimed she had "no idea" what she was doing.
