Arapahoe Basin officially opens for winter season
SUMMIT COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- It's finally time to get your skis out! The Arapahoe Basin Ski Area has officially opened its doors for the winter season. The alpine ski area announced on Friday.
According to Arapahoe Basin, the resort's lifts started turning at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday. The Summit County resort often remains open into June and wants to have the longest ski and ride season in Colorado.
The resort said it will operate seven days a week. As the season kicks off, one lift and run will be open. There will be an intermediate run at the Black Mountain Express Lift that will serve High Noon.
Arapahoe Basin Ski Resort is located a little more than 65 miles West of Denver in Summit County, Colorado. The resort has 125 snow-making acres and gets 350 inches of snowfall on average.
