Multiple Pueblo West schools placed on exterior lockdown

MGN

PUEBLO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- Tuesday afternoon, Pueblo County School District 70 reported multiple schools were placed on exterior lockdown.

According to the district's Facebook, Pueblo West High Schoo was placed on lockdown around 11:30 a.m. Skyview Middle School and Sierra Vista Elementary School were placed on an exterior lockdown "as a precautionary measure" just before noon.

D70 says the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office and district administrators are monitoring the situation at Pueblo West High School.

At this time, the district does "not view this as a credible threat." As of 1 p.m., officials are still at the high school.

As of 2 p.m., Sierra Vista Elementary and Skyview Middle School's lockdown has been lifted.

It's unclear what triggered the exterior lockdown.

According to the district's academic calendar, this is the second week of school for D70.
