Police investigate potential arson at Colorado Springs commercial building

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) says it is investigating a potential arson.

According to officials, officers were sent to the area of 300 East Costilla Street around 2:30 a.m. Monday, where the reporting party says there was a possible disturbance and someone may have started a fire. CSPD says they got to the area and found a commercial building partly on fire.

The Colorado Springs Fire Department confirmed the fire was being investigated as human caused and was still under investigation.

CSPD says the 300 block of Wahsatch Avenue, as well as the 300 block of East Costilla Street were closed for several hours during the investigation and fire response.

The roads were reopened around 5 a.m.
