Court docs: Fountain kidnapping suspect trapped 7-year-old in chicken coop

FOUNTAIN, Colo. (KRDO) -- Court documents recently obtained by KRDO are painting a clearer picture of what happened when a 7-year-old in Fountain was allegedly kidnapped by a 28-year-old last weekend.

Fountain police say Kristopher Lockit, the man accused of kidnapping a 7-year-old fountain boy Ashton Laymon, met the victim at Connie's Cupboard. It's a thrift shop designed to give back to the homeless.      

The owner of the shop tipped police off that she spotted the boy inside with Lockit after a massive search began for the missing child on Sunday.

According to court documents, Lockit told police that he had recently met the boy at this shop. On Saturday, Lockit asked the child if he wanted to “go on a hike." Laymon agreed. Lockit told police he then called up his friend Kristopher Davison who then picked the pair up. 

Police say the two men offered the 7-year-old marijuana. They taught him, step by step, how to smoke the drug.  Lockit said he could tell the boy was high because Laymon “mellowed out," according to court documents.

From there, the men drove the boy to his mom’s house where they told him to ask permission for a sleepover with friends.  Despite his mother saying no, Laymon left the house anyway and went back out with the men.

She believed he went back outside to play and Laymon's mother did not check to see if he had returned that night, according to court documents.

After Laymon left the house, they then called Lockit’s drug dealer. Lockit says they used the boy to convince a stranger to give him ten dollars and they used that money to buy methamphetamine.  After the drug deal, the three went to Davidson's parent’s house in Falcon. Once inside, Lockit smoked meth next to Laymon though he says he “made sure not to exhale in his direction.”

At five o’clock in the morning, Lockit and the boy snuck out of the house. They walked to a nearby shed that was set up as a chicken coop. While in the coop the boy tried to leave several times but Lockit wouldn’t let him.

At one point Lockit even put a lock on the door so Laymon couldn’t get out. It was at this time that Lockit says he started to feel that something wasn’t quite right about the situation.    

Police found Lockit, Davidson, and Laymon inside a shed on Davidson's parent's property on Sunday.    

At this time Davidson is not facing any charges. 

Lockit is as well as Laymon's mother. She’s been issued a criminal summons for child abuse.
