Husband of missing Colorado Springs woman arrested for murder

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- It's been more than two years since Jepsy Kallungi was last seen in Colorado Springs, but now her husband is in custody and facing a first-degree murder charge.

After we broke the news this morning, Colorado Springs Police confirmed Thursday afternoon that Dane Kallungi, 38, was in custody in the Bernalillo Metropolitan Detention Center in New Mexico.

According to Colorado Court records, he's facing a first-degree murder charge for an incident that happened on March 20, 2019. A warrant was issued for his arrest on June 1, and he was listed in custody Thursday morning.

KRDO reported in 2019 when family members and friends were on the search for Jepsy, 26. Her mother said she had last heard from Jepsy in March of 2019. The case into Jepsy’s disappearance was opened on April 4th when CSPD didn’t find her while doing a welfare check.

Members of the Filipino-American Community of Southern Colorado put up flyers calling for any information, but few updates came as the case went silent over years. A vigil was held for Jepsy in May of 2019.

CSPD says an update with more information will come on Friday.
