Child dies after being hit by truck in Colorado Springs parking lot

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Colorado Springs Police say a child has died after being accidentally hit by a car in a parking lot Thursday afternoon.

CSPD said the accident happened shortly before 4:30 p.m. in the 1700 block of S. 8th Street. Police said the child was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries on Thursday.

Friday, police gave an update saying the child died from his injuries.

Police say the child's dad was driving the truck, and when the child saw his dad pull up, the child got excited and ran out in front of it. The father didn't see the child, but police say he wasn't impaired.

According to police, everybody involved in the crash was cooperating. Nobody has been arrested, and the victim hasn't been identified.

Police say more details will be released Tuesday.
