East Fork Fire near Trinidad grows to nearly 1,700 acres
TRINIDAD, Colo. (KRDO) -- The East Fork Fire burning in Las Animas County has consumed nearly 1,700 acres of land as of Monday.
Firefighting crews are working on containing the wildfire, which is about 11 miles southeast of Trinidad, and a little over a mile away from the Colorado and New Mexico border.
The state reported the fire was 1,680 acres and was 15% contained as of Monday.
Firefighters hope to have more of the fire contained in the coming days, and four firefighting aircraft are working on dousing flames from above.
