UPDATE: Crews contain small wildfire on north slope of Pikes Peak

PIKES PEAK, Colo. (KRDO) -- UPDATE: The US Forest Service said at about 4:50 p.m. that the fire on the north slope of Pikes Peak was 100% contained.

It had burned about a tenth of an acre.

The Forest Service said the smoke visible in Colorado Springs is from other fires across Colorado and will remain prevalent in the area.

Firefighters were called to the north slope of Pikes Peak after a small wildfire was spotted Friday morning.

The fire had burned about a tenth of an acre as of 10:30 a.m., firefighters reported. Multiple crews and at least one aircraft were called to help extinguish flames.

No injuries have been reported.
