COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- A Colorado Springs daycare operator, accused of hiding child abuse inside a local facility she ran, has been scheduled for trial.

Carla Faith, 58, made big headlines at the start of the year after inspectors said they discovered a secret basement room hidden behind a false wall. It was designed to hide neglect and overcrowding at an unlicensed home daycare.

Inspectors say they found more than two dozen toddlers being hidden behind a fake wall in the home. Faith will now head to trial October 5 to face 26 misdemeanor charges of reckless child abuse, attempting to influence a public servant, and three counts of operating a child care without a license.

Faith is also facing a civil lawsuit from the parents of those children, which is set to be heard in the spring of 2021.

Three other women, employees at the daycare, are facing related charges.
