The IRS stimulus payment tracker is working now

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- When the first round of stimulus payments went out as part of the federal government's COVID-19 relief efforts, millions of people were left waiting and without answers. But now, the IRS tracker tool to help people get their payments seems to be working.

The tracker was launched around the time that the first payments went out, and the online tool was also supposed to be the way that people could enter their bank account information for a direct deposit. But many KRDO viewers reported seeing an error that their payment status couldn't be found, and they couldn't enter their bank account information.

Over the weekend, however, the IRS performed maintenance on the "Get my payment" tool, and as of Sunday, users reported success with it.

If you owe taxes this year, the IRS likely doesn't have your bank account information on file for the stimulus payment, and you'll need to use the tracker tool to provide that account information.

The link for the online tracker is here.
