Downtown shooting, carjacking under investigation in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Police are investigating a shooting and attempted carjacking that happened Saturday afternoon near Wahsatch and Vermijo downtown. This comes after an earlier incident Saturday morning of a shooting followed by a carjacking in the Broadmoor area south of downtown.

Police tell us that a suspect attempted to steal the vehicle pictured above. When the victim refused to get out of the car, shots were fired. Police say the victim was shot but is expected to be OK.

It's not clear at this time if the downtown incident is related to the earlier shooting and carjacking. Police are also still working to determine if the earlier shooting is related to the subsequent carjacking that happened moments later.
