Skate City responds after woman knocked out inside rink
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) - Parents are voicing their concerns after a video posted online showed a woman getting kicked in the head by a man, right in front of her child, at Skate City on Academy Boulevard in Colorado Springs.
The video was posted to Facebook on Sunday by Natascha West.
It now has a “violent or graphic content” warning before you choose to watch it, and more than 170 thousand views.
The camera follows a man and a woman as they appear to be screaming back and forth with someone else at the rink. Then, the woman launches herself at another woman. They punch each other as the first woman pulls the second one to the ground. As they continue to fight, the man kicks the second woman in the head, which appears to knock her out cold.
The video after the woman’s daughter runs over and places her head on her mother’s chest, and a Skate City employee rolls over to check on things.
KRDO crews spoke with the owner of Skate City Academy, who didn’t want to go on camera. He says he thinks the man and woman who seemingly started the fight are sick.
However, he says they’ll wait until a police investigation wraps up to decide whether the two will be banned from the rink.
Colorado Springs police say one man, Alfredo Arguelles, was arrested and charged with third-degree assault. He has since been released from custody.
Police haven't released the identity of the second woman in the video, but she reached out to KRDO and said the video wasn't accurate. We asked her for further comment, and she said she would be consulting with a lawyer before issuing a statement.
