Suspect arrested in 2010 shooting of Colorado deputy

DENVER (AP) - Colorado authorities have arrested a man suspected of shooting a sheriff's deputy in both legs with a shotgun during a botched home invasion in 2010.

Thirty-year-old Gerardo Reyes-Torres was arrested Thursday night in the Denver suburb of Lakewood. Investigators traced his location after learning that Reyes-Torres was seeking a construction job on a government building in Jefferson County. He was taken into custody during a traffic stop.

Reyes-Torres faces charges of attempted first degree murder of a police officer, kidnapping, burglary, aggravated robbery and assault. He was being held on a $5,000,000 bond and scheduled to appear in court Monday. It was unknown if he had an attorney.
