The School Buzz: D11 educator teaches in same classroom where she attended 1st grade

From student to teacher, a D-11 educator’s journey has truly come full circle.

The school district recently posted a picture of Ms. Chelsea Lewis to their social media page. Lewis is a first-grade teacher at Grant Elementary here in Colorado Springs. In the photo, she’s holding up a picture of herself in the first-grade, standing in the exact same classroom in which she is currently teaching.

Lewis has been with the school for several years. She was even able to teach with her former teacher, Kathy Nash, for years. The two wrote a book together titled "Choose Kindness," before Nash retired.

Lewis has a social contract in her classroom where students are encouraged to embrace being kind to one another. And Nash comes in from time to time to lend a helping hand.
