The School Buzz: Widefield student will shadow doctors in Vietnam

Some college students study abroad. But one local high schooler is going overseas. And his ambitions are big.

Nawras Al Lami is a junior at Widefield High. He wants to be a doctor. And next summer he’s going to Vietnam for two weeks to shadow doctors through the FutureDocs Abroad program. Nawras has big dreams ahead of his trip.

“I want to find some type of medicine to cure, or help out with, at least, cancer and cancer patients. Give them a … better chance at survival," said Nawras.

"I want to be remembered," he said.

Nawras will also be in a real operating room, on top of his medical courses. He’s even taking biomedical science classes in the Project Lead The Way program at Widefield. He says he’s also open to becoming a surgeon or biomedical engineer.
