PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) -- Wednesday, the Pueblo Board of Health voted to extend the local Public Health Order through May 31.

In anticipation of the State shifting control of COVID-19 pandemic response to local governments, Pueblo's Board of Health initially approved a public health order on April 13.

On April 19, Pueblo's Board of Health amended the public health order with a Framework for Pueblo's COVID-19 response. PDPHE released a Pueblo County Dial Framework for COVID-19. That order was set to expire on May 15.

Below are what's implemented with the current public health order:

  • Outdoor activities of 500 people and less will not be subjected to restrictions of the COVID dial
  • 5-star certified businesses will not be required to follow the six-foot-distance requirement
  • 5-star certified businesses will also be able to work at one level lower than the current level

Now, the Board of Health extended the health order through the end of May. PDPHE says this is to give the State time to decide what to do following the expiration of state public health orders on May 16.

In Pueblo, hospitalizations have continued to stay high during the past few weeks, however, positive cases per day are currently trending downward, according to PDPHE.
