Light snowfall Friday morning results in numerous vehicle crashes in El Paso County

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Slick roads caused by light snowfall during the Friday morning rush hour led to a vehicle rollover crash on Interstate 25 between Fillmore Street and Garden of the Gods Road.

According to COtrip, a Colorado Department of Transportation app that provides travel information and road conditions, drivers were told to expect more than about a 20-minute delay through the area.

There was no word on the exact cause of the accident, or if anyone was injured.

Icy pavement also slowed traffic in the southbound lanes of I-25 from Monument into Colorado Springs.

The above crash was just one of several reported in the area during the morning commute; the snow was a preview of more, heavier snow expected this weekend.
