A complete list of Southern Colorado Fireworks Shows ahead of 4th of July

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO)-- The following times and locations are where you, your family, and friends can see spectacular fireworks displays Tuesday across the Southern Colorado region.

There will be no fireworks shows at Memorial Park for the fourth straight year; instead, visitors can attend the Star-Spangled Symphony & 4th of July Fireworks Show in downtown Colorado Springs starting at 9:15 p.m.

After the Colorado Springs Philharmonic holds a free performance at the Pikes Peak Center starting at 4:30 p.m., spectators can choose from eight public or private fireworks shows.

Colorado Springs began working with the Sports Corp, a local event management company, to reimagine Independence Day events after they were canceled starting in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic; the Sports Corp is now the lead planner for the event.

“It’s more inclusive for everyone to kind of stay at home or travel shorter distances, if you will, to attend and see the fireworks versus everyone going down to one location," said Lauren DeMarco, marketing manager for the Sports Corp. “It's also a more efficient use of resources. The fire departments are already on call, doing road closures, and police are already spread out in other areas, and having facilities pick it up themselves, it’s been easier for them, as well.”

Hot, dry weather summer has occasionally canceled or delayed Independence Day's fireworks shows in southern Colorado, but similar weather this spring led La Junta and Westcliffe to cancel their holiday shows in advance.

"We were in high fire danger in March and April," a La Junta town spokesman explained. "That's when we usually order our fireworks for July."

However, wet weather has also rained out some shows -- as it did in 2018 when Colorado Springs rescheduled its show -- and storms are in the forecast for Tuesday evening.

"There is another location that does a show on a separate date -- I think it's the 6th, or something," DeMarco said. "I don't think we would do it on another day, to be honest. But again, as far as I'm concerned, it's going to happen (Tuesday) night."
