Three D11 superintendents finalists to interview Tuesday
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Colorado Springs School District 11 Board of Education will be holding public interviews with the three D11 superintendent finalists.
Tuesday, 90-minute interviews will be held at 2560 International Circle in the Tesla Professional Development Building auditorium.
D11 spokesperson Devra Ashby tells KRDO NewsChannel 13 the public is invited to sit and watch the interviews for all three final candidates for superintendent.
Interviews are open to the public:
- 4 p.m. Mr. Peter Hilts
- 6 p.m. Dr. Tammy Clementi
- 8 p.m. Mr. Michael Gaal
However, the interview will not be live streamed according to Ashby.
"The board of education felt this needed to be a very transparent process," Ashby said. "In an effort to be fair and equitable in the interview process, they didn't want to live stream the interviews. We will post them to our website the following day."
Parents can find a complete list of the candidates qualifications for the superintendent position here.
Besides transparency, Ashby tells KRDO the D11 Board of Education's priorities for a new superintendent include communication, high integrity, and honesty.
The search for a new superintendent began back in March.
The District 11 Board of Education announced the "mutual separation" with the district and Superintendent Dr. Michael Thomas.
According to a statement, Thomas expressed a "desire to pursue a mutual, amicable separation that would benefit all parties and the broader community. Further discussions ensued resulting in a mutual separation agreement."
Ashby says the D11 Board of Education hopes to have a superintendent in line for the position by the beginning of June at the latest.
