Victims, suspect identified in murder-suicide near Gleneagle
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The El Paso County Sheriff's Office is investigating an apparent murder-suicide that happened this weekend north of Colorado Springs.
Monday, the sheriff's office identified the three victims and the suspect. According to the EPCSO, the victims are 13-year-old Felicity Kreb, nine-year-old Barrett Kreb, and 50-year-old Yvette M. Siegert-Kreb.
Investigators also identified the suspect as 55-year-old Christof M. Kreb. According to family and authorities, Kreb was the father of the two children who died.
The official cause of death is still under investigation, but loved ones are speaking out on the tragedy.
“We're struggling to understand the situation, but we are working hard to move forward, especially for the three youngest siblings,” Morgan Kreb said.
Morgan is one of eight children in the interracial Kreb family. The Krebs adopted six of their children from China. Morgan told KRDO her family was just like any other.
Happy together, until one day, they weren't.
“None of us could have imagined this would have occurred or predicted this,” she said. According to the U.S. Air Force Academy, Morgan is listed as a member of the air rifle team.
Wendy Hammack-Smith, a long-time family friend of the Kreb’s says Yvette and Christof, both former military, were loving parents.
“They were a family that loved well and gave back and served,” she said. However, Hammack-Smith said the Krebs faced challenges within the last 19 months.
“Definitely the COVID isolation wore on this family as it did so many other families,” she said.
After retiring from the military on disability, Christof opened Specialty Sports and Supply, a Colorado Springs gun retailer with co-owner Jeff Lepp.
He also was the president of Morgan’s Shooting Club.
According to deputies, it was a cry for help to 9-1-1 from a young boy that prompted deputies to rush to the home Saturday morning. The boy told the dispatcher “someone was seriously injured and needed help.”
At about 10:08 a.m. on Saturday, dispatch received a cry for help from a young boy saying "someone was seriously injured and needed help." Deputies were sent to the 1300 block of Pleier Drive. When they entered the residence, they found the bodies of the three victims and the suspect.
Investigators haven't given a suspected motive behind the killings. EPCSO says the investigation is still active and ongoing.
