Fire near Cheyenne Mountain 100% contained

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The wildfire that started Monday in North Cheyenne Canyon southwest of Colorado Springs is now 100% contained, according to US Forest Service fire crews.

The fire started at about 4 p.m. Monday near Gold Camp Road. Our tower camera on top of Cheyenne Mountain caught smoke rising from a gulley in the forest area.

According to USFS, the fire was started by lightning. As of 11 a.m. Tuesday, the fire was 100% contained and fire crews were extinguishing the last of the hot spots.

No structures were damaged and no injuries were reported.
